FAQ

What you may want to know before you start.

It is natural to have questions before your first session. Here are answers to the most common ones.

How do I book my first session?

You can book online through the calendar on the Contact page, send a message through the form, or call / message me on Viber or WhatsApp. I will get back to you as soon as possible to find a time that suits you.

What happens in the first session?

The first session is a chance to get to know each other. You tell me what is on your mind, at a pace that feels comfortable, and I explain how I work. At the end we discuss whether and how we can work together and set the first goals. There is no obligation to continue.

How long is a session and how often do we meet?

Each session lasts 50 minutes. We usually start with one session a week, and as you progress the frequency can be reduced, always in agreement with you.

How long does therapy last overall?

It depends on your difficulties and goals. CBT is structured and goal-focused; for many difficulties, such as anxiety, meaningful improvement is often seen within a few months. We review progress together regularly.

How much does a session cost?

For current session fees please contact me by phone or via the form. The fee is the same for in-person and online sessions, and an official receipt is always issued.

Is what we discuss confidential?

Absolutely. Confidentiality is the foundation of the therapeutic relationship and is protected by the psychologists’ Code of Ethics and data protection law (GDPR). The only exceptions concern serious and imminent risk to your life or the lives of others, as defined by law.

Are online sessions as effective?

Research shows that online therapy, and CBT in particular, can be as effective as in-person sessions for many difficulties. All you need is a stable connection and a private, quiet space.

What is the difference between a psychologist and a psychiatrist?

A psychiatrist is a medical doctor and can prescribe medication. A psychologist provides assessment and psychotherapy, without medication. In some cases a combination of both works best, and I can help you connect with a psychiatrist when needed.

What if I need to cancel a session?

Please let me know at least 24 hours in advance so we can reschedule. Cancellations with shorter notice may be charged.

Which languages do you work in?

Sessions are available in Greek or English.
